Beaten 2-0 on the lawn of Manchester City after a disappointing match, the Parisians failed to turn the tide of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday night.

The English are the first to qualify for the final of the prestigious European competition.

An evening to forget.

While they were ready to "die on the pitch" in the words of their Brazilian striker Neymar, after their narrow defeat in the semi-final first leg of the Champions League, the PSG players lost in a disappointing return match , Tuesday night against Manchester City (2-0).

A meeting ended ten against eleven for the Parisians, while the English, a class above, are the first to qualify for the final.

A double from Mahrez for City

The match could have started differently for the Pochettino players, who thought they would benefit from a penalty in the 7th minute, which was finally canceled after the intervention of the VAR.

Only four minutes later, the task became more complex for the French, showered by a first goal from Mahrez (11th) and forced to score two goals either to qualify, but to hope for an extension.

This is not the turn of events.

Despite a Marquinhos bar, the PSG players failed to turn the tide in the first period, before Mahrez doubled the bet after the break (63rd).

Losing his nerves five minutes later, the Argentinian Di Maria was sent off for a gesture of temper on Fernandinho (68th).

After an impressive European career, marked in particular by victories against Manchester United in the group stage, in the round of 16 against Barça and in the quarter-finals against Bayern Munich, the Parisians are therefore not repeating their feat of the 2019-2020 season and fail in a Champions League final match. For his part, City coach Pep Guardiola has reached this final stage for his fifth season on the Sky Blues bench.
