28, had been hospitalized for a month.

hit his head after falling to the ground
and was left prone until he received medical attention.
After this event, the young man began to recover in the hospital and achieve some mobility again.
But in recent days his condition suddenly worsened due to a pulmonary thrombosis until he died.
The president of the Japan Sumo Association,
Hokutoumi Nobuyoshi,
has expressed his "sadness and shock" at the death of Hibikiryu and has conveyed his condolences to those close to the wrestler and the world of sumo.
However, some fans of the sport have called for more measures to be taken to protect the players and have remembered the young man with sadness and admiration.
But most have denounced through social networks the delay in the transfer to the hospital of the fighter, who according to local media was lying on the ground (or dohyo, where the fighters fight) for six minutes.
