William Nylander showed the way for Toronto and put 1-0 in powerplay already one and a half minutes into the match after a nice passing game.

The goal was his 15th of the season.

A moment later, the big star Auston Matthews increased to 2-0 with a real class goal.

Toronto entered the offensive zone, but the puck bounced on a defender's skate and into the air.

Matthews then picked up the puck on a volley without hitting the speed and then fired a quick shot that went into the post.

"The original image of a powerforward"

Montreal's replacement bench could hardly believe its eyes when they saw the replays being played on the jumbo throne.

- His finish is incredible.

And the power he possesses, he is the epitome of a powerforward and he can do just about anything right now, says teammate Joe Thornton.

"Jumbo Joe" himself passed to Jake Muzzins 3-0 and was noted for his 1100th passing point in his career.

Only six players in NHL history have done more.

Wayne Gretzky is superior first with 1963 assists and second Ron Francis has "only" 1249.

"A pair of living legends"

Another veteran, Jason Spezza, was noted for two assists and now stands at 966 points in his NHL career.

He thus touched on Montreal legend Maurice "Rocket" Richard.

- We get to play with a couple of living legends.

It's amazing to see how passionate they are at this stage of their careers.

This was a great night for both of them, says Matthews.

Auston Matthews tops the shooting league in the NHL with 35 hits, seven more than Edmonton's Connor McDavid.

Best Swede is first found in 25th place in the form of Mika Zibanejad who has scored 20 goals so far.
