The announcement stated that due to the existing international travel restrictions in Canada, F1 could not enter Canada without a mandatory 14-day quarantine.
"We thank the promoters of the event and the Canadian, Quebec, and Montreal authorities for their efforts in the past few weeks to make the event run smoothly. At the same time, we are pleased to announce the two-year extension of the partnership between F1 and the Canadian Grand Prix. F1 Chairman and CEO Stefano Domenicali said: "Although it is disappointing that we are unable to travel to Canada this season, we are happy to confirm that after a wonderful stop last season , Turkey can continue to host the Grand Prix in the 2021 season.
