The Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yachting Club announced the launch of the fourth edition of the Dalma Long Distance Race Festival in the 60-foot category, organized by the club, in cooperation with the Cultural and Heritage Festivals and Programs Management Committee in Abu Dhabi, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council, from 18 to 22 of next May in Delma Island Historical.

The fourth edition of the historic festival is held according to the precautionary measures taken to limit the spread of the Coronavirus.

In a press release, the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yachting Club confirmed the opening of registration for sailors from today until the ninth of next May, and the club allocated 25 million dirhams in cash prizes for the holders of the positions from the first to 100 in the final arrangement of participants, which are the most expensive and largest in the history of Absolute heritage marine races in the state and the region as a whole.

The historic Dalma Festival race is the longest among the 60-foot sailing bearings races, with a total distance of 80 nautical miles, equivalent to 125 kilometers, and the largest in terms of prize value, where the champion will receive a million and a half dirhams, in addition to a car as a prize money. The runner-up will get 1,100,000 dirhams and a car, and the third-place winner will get 900,000 dirhams and a car.

It is expected that the number of sailors present at the center of the event will reach 120 teams from different parts of the country.

For his part, Chairman of the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yachting Club, Chairman of the Supreme Racing Committee, Ahmed Al-Rumaithi, thanked the wise leadership for the permanent and continuous support for the various heritage events in general and the marine heritage sports in particular, stressing that the supreme support is the basis for the various successes that It has been achieved on the ground, whether by preserving the heritage or by spreading it among the nation’s youth.

For his part, the Director of the Events and Communication Department of the Committee, Abdullah Al Qubaisi, said that the festival competitions during the fourth session will be launched exceptionally under conditions facing the challenge of the Corona virus, and the competitions will be limited to the fishing tackle competition, the running race, the Delma rowing race on the standing board and the cycling race, in addition to Competitions organized by the Abu Dhabi Sailing and Yachting Club, and the Abu Dhabi Sports Council.
