The team was followed in the first period but where Alvik was in the driver's seat - until the last minute.

Luleå worked their way back in a good way after losing by at most five points.

When Chioma Nnamaka then put a three-pointer on the final signal of the first period, Luleå led 20-17 and got a psychologically heavy third into period number two.

Luleå withdrew

It was as if Nnamaka inspired his teammates, because in the second period Luleå scored even more threes.

Matilda Ekh was the giant of the period where she put a safe third, before she countered on her own in two new points shortly afterwards.

Luleå pulled away to a lead of 33-22 when Alvik took time out.

But the white-blacks' lead of ten points stood up to the halftime break, 39-29.

- We drop too few simple balls in the defense and have to get up there.

In the offensive we get our shots that we want but it's just that we have to put them, Alvik's Paula Juhlin told SVT after half the match.

In the first final match, Alvik was also behind by ten points.

That time they turned around and won after scoring over 60 points during the second half of the match.

Something the team certainly reminded each other of in the locker room now.

Complained to the judges

But it had no effect.

Alvik's assistant coach, Keyvan Khazravi, whined about the referees in a break interview with SVT where he wanted to see a better distribution of the penalty throw.

Maybe this created a focus on the wrong things for Alvik and instead it was Luleå who pulled away even more.

The best player of the decisive final match, Margaret Lucas, showed the way with new fine points throws.

When we only had one period left to play, Luleå's lead was crushing 23 points, 70-47 and Lucas had scored 21 points.

- The turnaround of this entire final series is very impressive for Luleå, says SVT Sports expert, Elisabeth Egnell.

Defended the gold

Alvik gave it a real try in the final period and in combination with Luleå becoming both cautious and nervous, the green-clad ones crawled ever closer.

But that was not enough, but Luleå won 91-78 and thus defended its title of Swedish champion.

Last season there was no playoff due to the corona pandemic, but Luleå were named Swedish champions when they won the league game.

This was Luleå's seventh gold in the last eight seasons.
