In video, a precedent in England .. suspending a Premier League match to allow Muslim players to break their fast

The match between Leicester City and Crystal Palace in the English Premier League last Monday witnessed a widely acclaimed shot, as the referee stopped the match half an hour after the first half, in order to give Muslim players in the ranks of Leicester City and Crystal Palace an opportunity to break their fast, before deciding to continue the match. "The Athletic" website stated that the matter concerns the players, Frenchman Wesley Fofana (Leicester) and Cheikho Coate (Crystal).

He pointed out that this is happening for the first time in the history of the Premier League, as the administrations of the two clubs, in agreement with the referee Graham Scott, before the match, stopped it at the first half hour, in solidarity with two Muslim players to give them an opportunity to break their fast.

Indeed, an agreement was reached, and the match was stopped for a short period, during which the two players drank water and juice, and then the match resumed after that.

Leicester City coach, Branden Rogers, said in a press statement that he is happy that the players are faithful to their religion, and that he is proud to support them, and that he has no problem with players fasting during Ramadan.

For their part, the two players thanked the club, the referee and the league officials, and expressed their happiness at having this opportunity.

It is noteworthy that Leicester beat at home to Crystal Palace 2-1, and strengthened his chance to get a card to participate in European competitions next season.
