Terunofuji, who returned to Ozeki for the first time in 21 places, sat in Ozeki in the west after the numbering of the sumo summer place, which will be the first day on May 9, was announced.

The numbering of the sumo summer place was announced on the 26th.

With the retirement of Yokozuna and Tsururyu, Hakuho has become one of the top yokozuna in the ranking since the fall of 2012.

This is the first time that a yokozuna who has experienced a one-person yokozuna becomes a one-person yokozuna again.

Hakuho had an operation on his right knee last month and has indicated his intention to move forward and backward at the main location in July.

Terunofuji returned to Ozeki for the first time in 21 places since the fall of 2017, and sat in Ozeki in the west.

Terunofuji temporarily fell from Ozeki to the second stage due to the effects of knee injury and illness.

According to the Japan Sumo Association, it is the first time in history to lower the ranking to the flat curtain and return to Ozeki since Kaiketsu in the spring of 1977, and to return to Ozeki after falling to the second stage.

In addition to Terunofuji, the summer locations will be Asanoyama, Takakeishō, and Kakuban's four major sekis.

Takayasu, an experienced Ozeki player who won 10 victories by competing for the championship until the final round, has returned to Sekiwake for the first time in 7 places since the first place last year.

This summer, in addition to the new yokozuna, new Ozeki, and new San'yaku roles, there are no new entrances and new Juryo.

This is the second time since the summer of 1966.

The Sumo Summer Basho will celebrate its first day at the Kokugikan in Tokyo and Ryogoku on the 9th of next month.
