Head Laporte spoils Tottenham's adventure and awards Manchester City the Professional League Cup

Manchester City crowned its fourth consecutive League Cup title by winning a precious 1-0 victory over Tottenham today, Sunday, in the final match of the tournament at the ancient "Wembley" stadium in London.

Manchester City equaled two records in the tournament, as it shared with Liverpool the top of the most-crowned teams in this tournament and became only the second team after Liverpool to win the championship title in four consecutive copies.

Liverpool was the only club that had previously won the title four times in a row, and that was from the 1980/1981 season to the 1983/1984 season before Manchester City equaled this record today by winning the title for the fourth consecutive season and for the eighth time in the history of the tournament.

On the other hand, Tottenham stuck at four titles, the most recent of which was in the 2007-08 season.

The first half of the match ended with a goalless draw, which remained between the two teams, until Emeric Laporte scored the game's only goal with a header in the 82nd minute.

The head of LaPorte saved the Manchester City team from going into extra time to win the title, knowing that the team will play a difficult match against Paris Saint-Germain, France, next Wednesday, in the first leg of the Champions League semi-final.

Today, Manchester City won the first three titles it can win this season, as the team also tops the Premier League table by ten points against Manchester United and needs to win only two of the five remaining matches in the competition to be crowned the championship.

Likewise, Manchester City can reach the final of the Champions League and compete to win the title for the first time in its history if it succeeds in overcoming the St Germain hurdle in the Golden Square.

Manchester City had left the England Cup by defeating Chelsea in the tournament’s semi-finals last week, losing the dream of winning the fourth quarter this season.
