Lille takes the lead in Ligue 1 with a point ahead of PSG.

Led 2-0 after 35 minutes of play, Lille won on the ground of Lyon (3-2), Sunday April 25, on the occasion of the shock of the 34th day of Ligue 1.

The Lyonnais are the big losers of this day at the end of which only the first three remain in the race for the title.

Fourth, they find themselves six points behind LOSC but also four lengths behind Monaco and the third step of the podium.

They are thus in a very unfavorable waiver in the race for qualification for the Champions League that they were targeting at the start of the season.

Their next trip to Monaco, on May 2, will be very expensive and will be equivalent to a quits or double for them three days from the end.

Lyon didn't go the distance

Things had however ideally started for OL who opened the scoring in the 20th minute with Algerian Islam Slimani who took back a pass behind Maxence Caqueret.

But as usual since the start of 2021, Lyon did not go the distance for the entire meeting.

The Lille player, the Turkish Burak Yilmaz reduced the mark just before half-time by transforming a magnificent free kick conceded by Thiago Mendes on Jonathan Ikoné (45 + 1).

It was he who gave the victory to his team at the end of the game by beating Anthony Lopes closely following a long clearance deviated from the head by Yusuf Yazici in front of Djamel Benlamri (85).

Previously, the Lille had equalized on the hour of play by taking advantage of a loss of ball from Paquetà which benefited Yilmaz, again him, before he did not center on Jonathan David who did not miss the opportunity to point blank (60).
