At his second home Bernie Moore Stadium - Baton Rouge, Louisiana - Swedish pole vault star Armand Duplantis started the outdoor season.

In the competition LSU Alumni Gold, all other participants had torn themselves out when he stepped in at 5.46.

The world record holder managed that height in the first attempt, just like when the bar was at 5.60 and 5.80.

Then Duplantis tore once at 5.90 - but managed it in others.

New world year best, four centimeters taller than what Sam Kendricks managed in his season debut the same day in Des Moines, Iowa.

Duplantis then made an attempt at six meters, but then did not jump any more.

The 21-year-old won the European Indoor Championships last winter at 6.05.

And this summer's big championship for him will be the Olympics in Tokyo, which starts on July 23.
