It had not even been a minute before St Louis defender Robert Bertuzzo inadvertently sent the club up in the face of 28-year-old Gabriel Landeskog.

The team captain began to bleed from his nose and had to continue playing with a patch on his face.

Almost immediately after, in numerical superiority, Colorado took the lead when Andre Burakovsky found star defender Cale Makar who rocked hard into the net.

Shortly afterwards, 22-year-old Makar arrived with his brilliance again.

He rounded the goal and cleared Landeskog who only needed to put in the puck.

Then St. Louis took over and before the first period was over they had turned 3-2 through two goals by Ryan O'Reilly and one by Ivan Barbashev.

Colorado superstar Nathan MacKinnon equalized in the second period when he distinctly fired a shot at the nearest post.

Both MacKinnon and Makar had already accounted for 1 + 2 points each.

Burakovsky was also noted for another assist.

The guests from Denver then did not stand for a good last period.

Instead, it was St Louis who managed to decide when Mike Hoffman scored the decisive 4-3 goal.

Ryan O'Reilly then completed his hat-trick when he put the 5-3 goal in the open box.

Colorado has been one of the league's best teams this season and they are already ready for the playoffs.
