If it is decided that a state of emergency will be issued to the four prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto as a countermeasure against the new coronavirus, professional baseball and soccer J-League will hold games with no spectators in the target areas. We will consider future measures.

In response to the spread of the new coronavirus, the government plans to issue a state of emergency for the four prefectures of Tokyo, Osaka, Hyogo, and Kyoto from the 25th to the 11th of next month. If consent is obtained, the government's response headquarters will formally decide to issue a declaration.

In addition, the four prefectures are considering holding sporting events in principle with no spectators in accordance with the state of emergency.

Professional baseball and the J-League will consider future measures in the direction of officially requesting that a match be held in the target area without spectators.

However, according to the people concerned, in professional baseball, there are some opinions that it is better to postpone the game than to hold it without spectators, so it is expected that 12 teams will discuss in the future.

Regarding the state of emergency, Atsushi Saito, commissioner of professional baseball, and Mitsuru Murai, chairman of the J.League, said at the countermeasures liaison meeting on the 19th that they would eventually follow the administrative decision, but even if the declaration was made, the audience was included. He expressed the idea that the match should continue as it is.
