Terrence Clarke
, a guard at the University of Kentucky, died Thursday at age 19 after a car accident in Los Angeles.
Clarke's car collided with a truck and suffered serious injuries, from which he could not recover at Northridge Hospital Medical in the Californian city.
According to the Los Angeles police report, the young man was driving "at high speed" when he ran a traffic light in the San Fernando Valley area.
After being fired, his vehicle, where he was traveling alone, also hit a wall.
The truck driver, meanwhile, was not seriously injured.
"We feel absolutely devastated," said
John Calipari
, Kentucky coach, who spoke of his former player as "a beautiful kid, someone who captivated with his personality, smile and joy."

Clarke, 2.04 meters tall, had played only eight games last season, due to a right leg injury, averaging 9.6 points, 2.6 rebounds and 2.0 assists.
His previous training was developed at the Brewster Academy institute (New Hampshire).
On July 29, the Wildcats promise had been declared eligible in the
draft
and, according to some experts, had a chance of reaching the second round.
In fact,
nbadraft.net
placed him in 48th place, where he could be chosen by the Celtics, the team from Boston, his hometown.
Clarke's bond with the Massachusetts capital, where he maintained a friendship with
Jaylen Brown
, a Celtics guard, was also reflected in the pain of
Brad Stevens
and
Kemba Walker
, coach and point guard of the legendary green franchise.
