• Boubacar Kamara, a 21-year-old OM-trained player, is one of the club's best players this season.

  • He wants to finish the season before “landing” to “think” about his future.

  • But by his own admission, "after all [he has] lived at OM", he could "play anywhere".

"There is the coach who wants the best players available, the club who must manage the contracts, and the player who wants to know his situation".

The coach of Olympique de Marseille, Jorge Sampaoli, could not better summarize the situation of his midfielder Boubacar Kamara.

At the time of the final sprint for 5th place in this mixed season for OM with this trip to Reims this Friday evening, Boubacar Kamara is a safe bet.

A safe bet in this workforce decimated by misforms like Payet at the start of the season, then Thauvin now, injuries - cuckoo Jordan Amavi and Valentin Rongier -, or suspended, Caleta Car and Alvaro.

He is even considered the best Olympian this season by many observers.

"Help and fight for the team"

What a road traveled by this young player trained at the club, who from the top of his 21 years was one of the only ones at the level of the Champions League. “I think it was a little experience that allowed me to take a step forward. Like in the Champions League where you learn from the greatest. The championship did not go as we wanted, we had some difficulties. You had to get up quickly and that's what I tried to do, help and fight for the team, ”he says on his level this year.

His family balance also plays a big role in this regularity.

“It's true that it helped me a lot, my child, my wife, my family.

It gives me stability, when I come home I can stay focused on football.

Especially my father and my mother, you must never forget where you come from, and not rack your head while listening to the right or to the left and stay focused, ”adds the native of the northern districts.

Sports project

A maturity that allows him to take the steps one after the other, before thinking about his future, while he has one year of contract with OM.

“Already I would like to finish the season, there are five games left.

Then I will ask myself this summer to think about what to do next, ”he warns.

A future that he will take into account only around the sports project of OM, or of another club, even if a departure no longer seems taboo. “I've been in pro for four years now, I've been through it all here. It's the sporting project that will make me make the decision. I do not know what it is to leave, since I was very young I have been here, I have never known a club outside Marseille. But after all that I have experienced at OM, I am ready to go anywhere, ”announced Boubacar Kamara, while reassuring that OM's non-participation in the next Ligue des champions "will not pose any problems to re-sign".

Statements that should not reassure Jorge Sampaoli, who relies heavily on his midfielder that he can also play in central defense.

"I hope to be able to keep Kamara but I do not have total power for the reasons I have already mentioned", he was satisfied.

Of sure value, on the field, Boubacar Kamara has also become outside since he is the player with the greatest market value of the workforce, valued at nearly 40 million euros.

Between the financial stakes for the club on the one hand, and the sporting ones for Kamara, only a replacement in the French Espoir Team, everything seems to converge towards a departure this summer.
