The Tokyo Olympic torch relay, which started in Ehime Prefecture on the 21st, will start in Tobe Town on the 22nd, the second day, and will reach the goal in Yawatahama City.

Following the spread of the new coronavirus, the torch relay on the 22nd will also be implemented while infection prevention measures are being taken.

The holy fire relay in Ehime Prefecture, which was the last in Shikoku, started in Shikokuchuo City on the 21st, headed west, and arrived in Matsuyama City via Kamijima Town, which is an island in the Seto Inland Sea.

In Matsuyama City, where the relay was canceled, an ignition ceremony was held with no spectators, in which runners lined up to move the torch fire in order.

At the ceremony, Governor Nakamura of Ehime Prefecture, who attended the ceremony, said, "I'm really sorry I couldn't give the runners who were looking forward to running the opportunity."

On the 22nd of the second day, we will leave Tobe Town and head south, and after passing through Ozu City, which is the area affected by the heavy rains in western Japan, a ceremony will be held in Yawatahama City, which is the goal point, with the audience limited to the citizens.

On the other hand, Ehime Prefecture requested the national government to apply "priority measures such as prevention of spread" on the night of the 21st.

For this reason, the torch relay on the 22nd will also be held while the prefectural executive committee strongly calls for wearing masks, applauding support, and refraining from supporting by moving to cities and towns.
