The paddle has struggled to get under the RF's umbrella, but has been denied on two occasions.

Then because the sport was considered too similar to tennis.

There has been talk of a merger with more racket federations, but the sport of paddle has wanted to go its own way.

The number of members has grown to over 20,000 and now it also looks like they will be rewarded with a place in Sports Sweden's fine room.

"The Swedish Sports Confederation believes that paddle has developed into a sport that can no longer be considered closely related to the Swedish Tennis Association's sports activities or any of the other racket sports federations' sports activities," writes RF in a press release.

The paddle association welcomes the message with joy.

"We celebrate the announcement with pride and look forward to meeting the entire sports movement at the national sports meeting to hopefully be elected," says union president Tomas Andersson in a press release.

Islandshäst and Friskis & Svettis are also proposed to become new affiliates in RF.

However, rejections are proposed for e-sports, functional fitness, juiijitsu, bridge and chess.
