Now it is official what has been clear for a long time: FC Schalke 04 is the first relegated team of the season.

The Gelsenkirchen team lost 0: 1 at Arminia Bielefeld and because of the large deficit four match days before the end of the season, they can no longer hold the class mathematically.

The fourth relegation in the club's history is the logical consequence of a catastrophic season.

It is the earliest relegation in Schalke's Bundesliga history.

In 1981 and 1988 the Royal Blues got it after the penultimate matchday, in 1983 the team only had to go to the lower house after relegation.

After 30 years without a break in the Bundesliga, Schalke's opponents will be Erzgebirge Aue, Heidenheim and Darmstadt in the coming season.

With the 0: 1 in Bielefeld, Schalke once again set a new negative record.

It was the 21st defeat of the season for Dimitrios Grammozis' team.

The team's performance away from home was particularly shocking.

The team has been waiting for a win abroad for 26 games.

The last five away games were all lost.

The last Bundesliga win abroad was on November 23, 2019 (2-1 in Bremen).

The Bielefeld 1-0 was emblematic of the often disastrous performances this season.

Schalke messed up the ball in midfield and then let Fabian Klos have it.

The Bielefeld striker would not be attacked ten meters from the penalty area.

Klos could leave without being forced.

Schalke's goalkeeper Ralpf Fährmann let his harmless shot pass to lead Arminia (50th minute).

As so often in previous games, Schalke did not fight the defeat.

Malick Thiaw saw the yellow-red card (71.).

With ten men, the Royal Blues had even less chance of the miracle and were even lucky when Klos missed a penalty (80th).
