  • Bayern Munich won at the Parc des Princes on Tuesday night in the Champions League quarter-final second leg, but were still eliminated after losing the first leg.

  • The Bavarians, sure of their strength, were however very confident about their chances of reversing the situation against PSG.

  • They had inevitably bad after the meeting, convinced that they deserved better, but taking care to put the forms there.

At the Parc des Princes,

We admit, we hoped for shattering statements, at the height of the arrogance displayed before the kick-off by Thomas Müller, Hansi Flick and especially Joshua Kimmich.

"I am convinced that we will pass, because we are the best team", had prophesied the German midfielder.

Missed.

So we were a little disappointed.

After their elimination on Tuesday night, the invincible Bavarians have rather kept a low profile, even if their coach could not help but start a small one.

“As on the first leg, we weren't decisive enough, we missed the last gesture.

In both games I think we were the better team, said Flick.

I have to compliment my team, they were very focused, they tried everything.

We had some bad luck, with a few important players unavailable, but we have to accept it.

"

So yeah, Lewandowski got injured at the worst time, and when your 40-goal striker in 30 games isn't around, it's a little more complicated.

Gnabry, Douglas Costa or Tolisso were also missing, but we can not say that on the other side PSG were spared, with 0 minutes of play for Verratti on the double confrontation, the absence of Marquinhos on the return or the injuries of Bernat and Kurzawa which force to tinker with the post of left side.

In general, we still feel that the title holders have held back.

The disappointment is there, logical, after having procured a second hand car between the outward journey and the return to finally pass by the trap to the goal outside.

Bad faith is to be read between the lines.

Like that of Müller, who apparently discovered that a team in the process of qualifying always added a little to save time.

“In the second half we were very good at the start, but the game was very choppy, with constant interruptions, and we did not manage to have a pressure phase.

It's very disappointing to be eliminated having won in Paris, ”observed the German striker.

Fortunately for us, that of its captain is a little clearer.

“It wasn't tonight that we were eliminated.

Our 1-0 victory here is deserved, but it was the result in Munich (2-3) that was not good, we were in a bad position at kick-off, insisted Manuel Neuer.

It's annoying to have missed so many chances in the first leg.

The goalkeeper had perhaps already erased from his memory his three rescues in front of Neymar and Mbappé, and this strike of the Brazilian on the bar on which he had only had time to move his eyes.

Pavard hopes for PSG

Let's be clear, we are enlarging the line, but the attitude of the Germans does not bother us in the least.

This hatred of defeat is also what makes the big clubs and Bayern remains one of the most complete and successful teams in Europe.

This makes the Parisian qualification all the more estimable, and Flick also wanted to “congratulate Paris” at the end of his presentation on his team which deserved better.

Benjamin Pavard was ultimately the only one to use the word “merit” to refer to the opponent.

“We are all very disappointed.

We have a lot of chances, but Paris too, ”admitted the defender, a handsome player and even a bit chauvinist:“ As a Frenchman, I hope that Paris will win the Champions League.

“Not very Bayern-compatible that Benjamin, but I promise, we won't say anything to your little comrades.
