Roda JC won the Limburg derby against MVV Maastricht in the Kitchen Champion Division on Monday evening.

The team from Kerkrade triumphed 2-4 in a spectacular game at times.

Almere City did bad business with a view to promotion, but escaped a defeat against Telstar in injury time: 1-1.

At MVV-Roda JC, no fewer than five goals were scored in the first half.

The home team started the game energetically and led 2-0 within twenty minutes.

Jérôme Déom was the end station of a smooth attack and Joy-Lance Mickels shot in after a counter.

Before half-time, Roda JC fought all the way back into the game.

Patrick Pflücke signed for the tying goal in the 23rd minute and via Richard Jensen and Fabian Serrarens coach Jurgen Streppel's team even took a 2-3 lead.

In the second half, Roda JC did not really get into trouble anymore, partly thanks to a red card for MVV midfielder Thibaut Van Acker shortly after the break.

The Belgian had to leave after a gross charge.

Twelve minutes later, Jensen scored the liberating goal for Roda with a header and his second goal of the evening.

Roda JC recorded its first win since March 28, when SC Cambuur was defeated.

Streppel's team is eighth and is almost certain of a place in the play-offs for promotion to the Eredivisie.

MVV occupies the thirteenth place.

Expensive points loss Almere City against Telstar

Almere City did itself a disservice with a view to promotion by playing 1-1 against Telstar.

The team of interim coach Jeroen Rijsdijk even headed for a defeat for a long time by a goal from Glynor Plet in the fourteenth minute after fumbling in the back.

In extremis, Almere City still managed to get a point out of the fire in the Yanmar Stadium.

Defender Radinio Balker headed in the fifth minute of injury time from a free kick by Jorrit Smeets, giving his team a hard-fought point.

Due to the draw, number three Almere City failed to approach number two De Graafschap to a point.

The team from Doetinchem has seventy points, three more than Almere City.

The top two teams are promoted directly to the Eredivisie.

At the bottom of the Kitchen Champion Division, Young AZ recorded a problem-free victory over FC Dordrecht: 4-0.

With Bram Franken, Richonell Margaret, Jelle Duin and Mohamed Taabouni, four different players scored with the Alkmaarders.
