The Tokyo Olympic torch relay will begin on the 13th in Osaka Prefecture.

Due to the spread of the new coronavirus, relays on public roads will be stopped, and the round course will be held in Suita City's Expo'70 Commemorative Park without the general public.

The torch relay, which started in Fukushima Prefecture on the 25th of last month, will be held for two days from the 13th in Osaka Prefecture, which is the 10th in total.

Initially, it was planned to visit 18 local governments in the prefecture, but due to the spread of the new coronavirus infection, relaying on public roads was canceled, and instead, a 3 km circuit course set up at the Expo'70 Commemorative Park in Suita City was set up. A human runner runs about 200 meters to relay the torch.

The park was not open to the general public, and only four people, including family members, could see it per runner.

In addition, the ceremony "Celebration", which will celebrate the torch at the end of the day, will be live-streamed on the 13th with no audience, and on the 14th, the content will be simplified and only the ignition ceremony will be held.

The relay on the 13th will start after 9 am, and about 90 people including Kabuki actor Ainosuke Kataoka and rakugoka Katsura Bunshi from Sakai City will run.
