KAIS Mora plays its 13th straight semifinal while tonight's home team Team Thoren, who recruited all the stars that were in the now defunct Iksu, are newcomers in SSL Dam this year.
In the first semifinal, it was the twin duo Veera and Oona Kauppi together with Sofia Joelsson who were behind all six goals in Team Thorens victory.
- I'm not entirely sure that they think they are making their best match and yet they are scoring all the goals going forward.
They are really good and I hope they have an equally good day on Sunday, says team captain Emelie Wibron to Sportexpressen Play.
Umeålaget took the lead
It was Team Thoren who took command.
With just over two minutes left of the first period, Oona Kauppi scored the first goal of the match and gave Team Thoren the lead assisted by the twin sister Veera.
Seven minutes into the second period, Sofia Joelsson extended both to 2-0 and 3-0 both times assisted by Veera Kauppi.
Just before the second break, a reduction goal came to Mora.
And in the middle of the third period, Mora approached further.
Moa Gustafsson came free, rounded the goalkeeper and put in 2-3.
But there was hardly any time to rejoice before Team Thoren pulled away again.
After a short tussle with the defender, Veera Kauppi finally tucked the ball home.
With three minutes left, 5-3 came to Umeålaget, this time from Oona Kauppi.
"Nothing makes sense"
And with just over ten seconds left, Sofia Joelsson put the final score 6-3, of course on a pass from assistant queen Veera Kauppi.
- I think we work hard but it's nothing fancy.
In addition to all the goals that Kauppis and Joelsson's five score.
We feel we have more to give, says veteran Emelie Wibron who made a comeback in the quarter-final series after giving birth in January.
The semi-final series is played in the best of five and the second match is played in Mora on Sunday.
