The president of Valencia, Anil Murthy, said that he was not really surprised that he had not received more support from Spanish clubs after central Mouctar Diakhaby had assured that the Cádiz player Juan Cala called him 'black shit', something that led his team to retire for a few minutes from the Ramón de Carranza field.

"I am surprised that the Spanish teams have not taken the step of having supported Valencia in this matter," Murthy said at first in a talk on the 'The Athletic' podcast.

Asked again if this surprise was really real, the president of the Mestalla club declined and confessed that it was not.

"Honestly? No. This is the state of the situation here and that makes it more urgent that institutions and clubs begin to realize and take this in a slightly more serious way," he claimed.

In the talk, Murthy pointed out that what happened in Cádiz means having taken steps backwards in the fight against racism and that it has revealed systemic failures in LaLiga's protocols to control this type of attitudes.

In addition, he ugly to those who see gestures such as Valencia's withdrawal from the field as a ploy and that can lead to many meetings being suspended and said that these are attitudes that promote racism.
