Janne Järvinen secured the Olympic place for Finland together with his teammate Simen Kurtbay in Lanzarote's regatta two weeks ago, but he has not really belonged to the national team in a couple of years.
It is instead together with Akseli Laakkonen that Kurtbay has received support from the Finnish Olympic Committee.
The criminal suspicion has hung over Järvinen for some time and today came the sentence of 2.5 years in prison.
What the Helsinki District Court considered that Järvinen had done was that he had made drug trafficking possible for several years.
The sailor denies all crimes, he can now appeal the verdict to the Court of Appeal.
