In December 2019, Rebecka Blomqvist was informed that she had cancer after a cyst on one of her ovaries was removed and analyzed.

After further investigations, she was declared healthy in early January.

She will go for checkups for five years to make sure the cancer does not come back.

At first she went every three months, but now it is twice a year.

She says that the time that has always been with her.

- It was an incredibly tough time and it's in the back of my mind.

But I am very happy and grateful that I feel good today and I focus a lot on that, says Rebecka Blomqvist to SVT Sport.

Do you have any concerns that the cancer will return?

- I feel that these controls are very reassuring to have, so I trust them and do not try to think so much about it.

The cancer message has affected how the 23-year-old, in everyday life in the German big club Wolfsburg, views life.

- I just feel that it has brought me even closer to my feelings and I really feel that it is the family and my relatives that are important.
