Mjällby starts this year's Allsvenskan with a meeting with Varberg on Sunday, but the team will be able to kick off the season without their head coach Christian Järdler being ill in covid-19.

Järdler has been in quarantine since the weekend when he learned that a family member tested positive.

Today, he himself received the answer to a PCR test that showed that he is infected.

Assistant coach Alf Westerberg will lead the team in the premiere.

Club manager Fredrik Danielsson thinks that it nevertheless feels good that they have been careful with the coach since it became clear that a close relative had been affected.

"This has led to him not meeting anyone in our organization and thus not being able to infect anyone else on Strandvallen," he says.
