The 350,000 tickets for the 2023 Rugby World Cup, on sale Tuesday evening to the general public, were sold in just a few hours.

If you haven't managed to get hold of the precious sesames, don't panic: new seats will be on sale in September, then in 2022.

Rugby fans are eagerly awaiting the next World Cup, in 2023 in France.

Two years before the event, tickets are already sold out in a few hours.

On Tuesday evening, nearly 350,000 tickets to the general public were sold in barely 4.30 hours, leaving many disappointed.

Claude Atcher, director of the organizing committee of the competition, reassured the unfortunate.

"In total, we have 2.6 million tickets to sell. There, we are close to a million tickets sold. There is no chance (of obtaining a ticket)," he told the micro d'Europe 1. New sales phases are therefore planned in the coming months.

Tickets for the finals on sale in September

The next sales session will take place from next September on the official website of the event.

At stake for the lucky ones: the first tickets for the finals, that is to say the knockout matches (quarterfinals, semi-finals, final and match for third place).

"A significant number of tickets will be put back on sale," promises Claude Atcher.

These matches will be played at the Stade Vélodrome and the Stade de France, the two largest stadiums in the country, in October 2023. The final is scheduled for Saturday, October 28 in Saint-Denis.

A resale platform opened in the first quarter of 2022

An official resale platform will also be set up in the first quarter of 2022. It will allow supporters to resell tickets that they will not be able to use, and a few (rare) elected officials to redeem them.

Tickets are also available through official travel agencies, which offer packages with accommodation and pre-match for several hundred euros.
