Mouctar Diakhaby could hardly be reassured.

The defender of FC Valencia stormed towards his opponent in the game against FC Cádiz and talked loudly at Juan Cala.

This is said to have racially insulted Diakhaby beforehand.

The Frenchman saw the yellow card for his emotional appearance, Cala was not punished by the referee.

Valencia's players expressed their solidarity with their teammates and closed the pitch in protest against the racist scandal.

The game was interrupted for almost half an hour.

If it had been up to the players of Valencia CF, it would not have continued at all.

But according to the club, they were forced to continue playing after the racism incident.

The club did not ask its professionals to return to the field, wrote the table twelfth after the 1: 2 in on the club website.

The referee informed the team of the consequences if the team did not continue the game.

"After the racist insult and the yellow card against Diakhaby, the players decided to return to the field under threat of penalty," the statement said.

"They would take away the three points and maybe more from us"

Valencia tweeted that the teams had decided to continue the game but would condemn all forms of racism.

They support Diakhaby: "The player who was racially insulted has asked his teammates to go back on the field."

Valencia defender José Gayá told Moviestar TV that the team continued to play because they were threatened with defeat.

"Diakhaby told us that he was insulted," said Gayá.

"That's why we left the square, but they told us that we had to come back, otherwise they would take away the three points and maybe more," said Gayá, leaving it open who should have made the threat.

Diakhaby had asked the team to continue playing, according to Gayá.

"We would not have done that without his permission." The Frenchman was "devastated" and could not continue playing.

When the game officially resumed after the break when the score was 1-1 in the 30th minute, Diakhaby did not return to the game.

He was substituted off for Hugo Guillamón.

Cádiz won the game 2-1 thanks to a late goal from Marcos Mauro (88th minute).
