Ski legend Björn Dählie has expressed concern about the future of cross-country skiing.

He believes that Norway's dominance is too great and that the sport has become too expensive and complicated.

That's why he wants to remove classic style - something that has been opposed.

- If this is true, it is among the dumbest I have heard.

Norway wins just as much in skating, right?

said Jens Burman to VG.

Mathias Fredriksson says that these are two different issues.

- Norway's dominance is one thing, recruitment another.

It is not a sign of equality.

To limit Norway's dominance by removing classic riding - then that's what Burman says, they are just as good at skating.

- Then I understand that you are worried about recruitment and worried about an expensive sport, I buy it in full.

Fredriksson emphasizes that a ban is the wrong way to go.

- Development usually governs itself.

If you notice that the demand for classic decreases, it can come naturally, but it would be quite drastic to ban.

I have a very hard time with that, he says.

Instead of introducing restrictions, Fredriksson prefers to help the nations that are behind the others.

- In the long run, it will not be good for the sport if only Norway, Sweden and Russia win.

But one should not limit, rather help and educate people.

If you face restrictions, the development stops.
