Washington took the lead through John Carlson in the middle of the second period.

A few minutes later, New Jersey equalized when Michael McLeod received a return on Jesper Boqvist's shot.

The result was 1-1, the regular match time stood out and the meeting was extended.

Only with 21 seconds left of the extra time was it all decided when Dimitrij Orlov got in 2-1 for Washington who for the seventh meeting in a row won over New Jersey.

Horse job

Mackenzie Blackwood did a horse job in the New Jersey goal, although it did not lead all the way to victory this time.

He saved 38 pucks.

- We did not have a good second period.

"Blackie" played fantastically well and kept us in the match.

In the third, however, we had some chances, says New Jersey's Andreas Johnsson.

- It is a pity that we did not get two points, but "Blackie" helped us to get one point, he continues.

Toronto won on penalties

Even in the Canadian meeting Toronto – Winnipeg, it was 1-1 at the end of regular playing time.

But after a goalless extra time, that match was decided on penalties instead and Toronto won 2-1.
