Manchester City took a new hurdle on Saturday to the seventh league title in club history.

Number three Leicester City was beaten 0-2.

Earlier in the day, Chelsea lost no less than 2-5 against West Bromwich Albion, partly due to an early red card.

After a scoreless first half, City struck in Leicester in the second half.

Benjamin Mendy and Gabriel Jesus scored for manager Pep Guardiola's team.

City has already won for the 23rd time in 31 Premier League rounds and is seventeen points separate from number two Manchester United, which has played two games less.

Leicester concedes eighteen points to the leader as number three.

Number four Chelsea started energetically against West Bromwich thanks to a utilized rebound from Christian Pulisic.

The problems started within half an hour, when Thiago Silva got his second yellow card.

The defender unknowingly hit Okay Yokuslu, but referee David Coote was relentless.

Trainer Thomas Tuchel then decided to exchange Hakim Ziyech for a defender.

In the injury time of the first half, Chelsea completely relinquished the lead.

Matheus Pereira equalized in the second half of injury time and two minutes later he put West Brom ahead for the first time with a shot into the short corner: 1-2.

Chelsea could lose CL spot

Even after the break, Chelsea did not get a grip on the game with ten men and West Bromwich Albion even ran out to 1-4 via Callum Robinson and Mbaye Diagne.

Mason Mount gave the score for the Londoners with the 2-4 an even more bearable look, but in the final minute Robinson made it 2-5.

It was only Chelsea's first defeat led by Tuchel, who succeeded Frank Lampard's dismissal at the end of January.

With the German on the bench, Chelsea only conceded two goals in the previous fourteen games.

The loss against West Brom threatens Chelsea to lose the important fourth place in the rankings to West Ham United, which will hit Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday.

The gap between the two teams is two points.

The number four qualifies for the Champions League at the end of the season.

Later in the day, the game between Arsenal and Liverpool, two top clubs who lost the top places out of sight, ended in 0-3.

The goals were scored after the break and came in the name of Diogo Jota (two) and Mohamed Salah.

Liverpool are now fifth, Arsenal are only number nine.
