It was a nice sixth place for Emilia Fahlin in the World Tour race Gent-Wevelgem in Belgium this weekend.

The Swede has remained in Belgium since then to recharge for the next challenge: the classic Around Flanders.

- It will be the culmination of this entire spring season down here in Belgium.

It's usually a folk festival and a crazy event.

Now it will not be a folk festival because there are strict restrictions, but I am very happy that a model for bicycles has still been found so that competitions can take place.

We will have to compete on a very nice and tough track, says Emilia Fahlin to SVT Sport.

Short and steep slopes

The race tomorrow contains short but steep slopes and is run on paved roads.

On Saturday, Fahlin and his teammates in the French stable FDJ Nouvelle Aquitaine-Futuroscope will be told how to carry out the race.

- My role will probably be to survive as long as possible and see how far it is.

If I have bad legs, it will be to help the teammates and if I have good legs, it may be to try to get to a final.

Injured his hand last year

The team includes Italian Marta Cavalli and Danish Cecilie Uttrup.

- We have a very strong team but I think I have proven that I am in very good shape and have had the chance if it is a smaller group sprint, then I am the strongest girl in the team, says Fahlin.

In September last year, Fahlin broke his hand and missed the World Cycling Championships.

Despite the fact that six months have passed since the operation, the injury is still being remembered - but mostly in everyday life.

- The hand is not 100 percent yet but the doctor said it can take up to a year.

I feel that it tightens and is not back to full function, but it is well enough to sit on the bike with.
