The Italian midfielder of PSG has tested positive for Covid-19.

He will therefore not be able to play the first leg of the quarter-final of the Champions League between the capital club and Bayern Munich.

He was uncertain anyway, due to a contusion to his left thigh.

Paris SG midfielder Marco Verratti tested positive for Covid-19, his club announced on Friday, which will have to deprive itself of him for the Champions League quarter-final first leg against Bayern Munich on Wednesday.

A second infection in 2021

The 28-year-old Italian player was in any case uncertain about this poster, due to a contusion to his left thigh, contracted with his selection.

After the legal seven-day isolation period, he can consider playing the second leg, at the Parc des Princes on April 13, if he passes a negative test by then.

This is the second time that the "Little Owl" contracted the coronavirus in 2021. He had missed two championship matches between the end of January and the beginning of February.

His absence represents a hard blow for coach Mauricio Pochettino.

With Leandro Paredes, suspended, that makes two midfielders on the sidelines for this shock against the defending champion, remake of the 2020 final lost by PSG in August (1-0).

A third, Portugal's Danilo Pereira, is uncertain due to a contusion to his left calf.

A point on its evolution must be made by Sunday.

Bayern will be deprived of Lewandowski

Repositioned in N.10 by "Pocket", Verratti is one of the most important players in the Parisian workforce, just like defender Marquinhos or striker Neymar.

His absence evokes that of "Ney", who had to miss the round of 16 against FC Barcelona because of an adductor strain.

Opposite, Bayern were not spared from injuries either.

His star striker Robert Lewandowski, hit to a knee with the Polish selection, has already withdrawn for the outward and return leg.
