Trainer Dick Advocaat has spoken extensively with players of Feyenoord over the past two weeks to clear the air.

The resident of The Hague was very annoyed in the last game before the international period - the team from Rotterdam did not get further than a 1-1 draw against FC Emmen - considerably at his team.

"There is no reluctance in this team, but the players have to tell me what is bothering them next week," Lawyer said after that much-discussed game on March 20 in conversation with



The 73-year-old coach did indeed speak individually with a number of players over the past two weeks.

"The talks were quite positive. I also let the players say something. I cannot say whether it has already helped. the home game with Fortuna Sittard.

Lawyer refers to, among other things, the discipline that was lacking at Feyenoord in the second half of the match against FC Emmen.

He criticized attackers Luis Sinisterra and Steven Berghuis, among others, who did not always co-defend.

'We have to reach European football, anyway'

Lawyer believes that his players owe it to their stand to give their all for the remainder of the season.

Feyenoord currently occupies fifth place in the Eredivisie and therefore seems to be grabbing next to a direct European ticket.

"Hopefully the players understand that it is very important for a club like Feyenoord to reach European football," said Advocaat about the attitude of his team.

"A large number of players will stay next season, then do you want to play European football? We just have to achieve that, in whatever way."

The match between Feyenoord and Fortuna Sittard in De Kuip starts on Sunday at 12.15 pm.

Lawyer misses at least four players against the Limburgers due to a corona infection in one of them.

The other three players were in close contact with them and must be quarantined.
