The elevator delays the Spain coach for the start of the match
Spain coach Luis Enrique recently admitted he was worried about his team's performance and it only got worse on Wednesday after he was locked in an elevator before facing Kosovo in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers.
Luis Enrique and several of his aides stayed in the elevator in the team hotel for about an hour before they were rescued.
They arrived in a car at the La Cartuja stadium moments after kick-off, after the team bus had moved.
The incident did not affect the performance of Spain, which won 3-1 at home thanks to goals by Dani Olmo, Ferran Torres and Gerard Moreno, to lead Group Two with seven points.
Luis Enrique said, "There was a backup plan and my crew would have managed the game. It wouldn't have made any difference if I hadn't done that.
The coach had a bigger problem to explain why captain Sergio Ramos was seated on the bench before engaging in the 86th minute.
Ramos underwent knee surgery in January and recently returned to play, missing out on Real Madrid's last game before the international break.
The 35-year-old defended for 45 minutes in the 1-1 draw with Greece last week and sat on the bench in the 2-1 win in Georgia.
Luis Enrique said, "He did not play because it was a technical decision. He has no problem, but I am the one who determines who will play. Ramos is in good condition, but he recently returned from an injury and decided to involve other players."
"His behavior has set an example to emulate. The leaders are the ones who give a lot even off the bench," he added.
