As athletes aiming for the Tokyo Paralympic Games this summer continue to be unable to receive the classification of disabilities that are conditions for participation due to the influence of the new coronavirus, the IPC = International Paralympic Committee is a special case for athletics and swimming. Announced that 10 competitions will be classified in Tokyo just before the competition.

In the 22 Paralympic Games, it is stipulated that athletes will be classified before the competition to determine the type and degree of disability in order to compete fairly, but due to the cancellation of the international competition due to the new coronavirus, they will be classified. There are a number of players in each country who cannot meet the conditions for participation.

In response to this situation, IPC announced that it will carry out classification in Tokyo just before the competition as a special case for 10 competitions with limited opportunities for classification such as athletics, swimming, and boccia.

However, as the number of people that can be received in Tokyo is limited due to exceptional measures, we are requesting international sports organizations to complete the classification in advance as much as possible.

IPC President Parsons said, "We have been working to provide safe and secure classification, but the reality is that we cannot receive it before the competition. This decision will reduce the pressure faced by athletes and international sports organizations. It's a thing. "
