The agreement covers the years 2021 and 2024 and includes, among other things, the European Championships and the World Championships in artistic gymnastics as well as the European Championships in team gymnastics.

- Gymnastics is one of Sweden's biggest sports on the practitioner side, but gymnastics has not had a clear place on a Swedish TV channel for many years.

Now we are changing that, making a major investment in gymnastics and really looking forward to showing Europe's and the world's best gymnasts to our large TV audience, says Åsa Edlund Jönsson, sports director at SVT.

The Swedish Gymnastics Association is very happy that SVT is broadcasting the European Championships and WC in the coming years.

- That SVT with its high viewing figures and elaborate productions has now purchased the rights from our two international federations and thus enables the Swedish television audience to continuously follow the major championships is something we have wanted for many, many years, says Lotta Darlin , marketing and communications manager at the gymnastics association.

Veronica Wagner is an expert

The first championship SVT will show is the European Championships in artistic gymnastics in Basel 21-25 April.

The championship will be broadcast live from Friday 23 April and will be commented on by AnnaMaria Fredholm and Veronica Wagner.

Wagner, one of Sweden's foremost gymnasts of all time, will be SVT's expert commentator.

- Gymnastics is an incredibly difficult sport and if you reach EC or WC level, it is something that all gymnasts at home want to see and be inspired by.

I have always dreamed that little girls and boys would be able to follow their gymnastics idols live, and now they will be able to.

I hope and believe that this will arouse big sports dreams in many who watch the broadcasts, just as it did for me once, says Veronica Wagner.

The focus during the agreement period will be on artistic gymnastics, but SVT also hopes to be able to show the European Championships in team gymnastics, a branch where Sweden has been very successful over the years.
