The Swedish troops for the European Championships in Basel in April are now complete.

The women's squad for the European Championships was performed today, and looks like this:

Jonna Adlerteg, Tonya Paulsson, Emelie Westlund and Jennifer Williams.

SVT's expert Veronica Wagner, comments below on the four Swedes' chances at the European Championships.

Jonna Adlerteg, born 1995:

“Has, after a postponed Olympics and the entire competition year 2020, fought all year and showed during the competitions a good form of competition.

Despite the lack of competitions in 2020, she has managed her program without major misses.

Here is the branch final chance.

Tonya Paulsson, born 2003:

“Swedish champion in all-around 2019 and 2020. Makes her third year as a senior but is a European Championship debutant.

Has good results as a junior where she, among other things, was in the needle final at the Youth Olympics 2018, which very few Swedes have been.

Tonya, like Jonna, is very nice to look at in the needles and her fine graceful style is consistent throughout all disciplines.

Emelie Westlund, born 2005:

“Senior debut and European Championship debutant.

Participated in the Youth Olympics in Baku 2019. Emelie has upgraded her difficulty in all disciplines since Baku despite a year without competition.

Emelie is a strong all-rounder ”.

Jennifer Williams, born 2005:

“Senior debut and European Championship debutant.

Jennifer also competed at the Youth Olympics in Baku in 2019. Has managed to upgrade her boom series to a very high difficulty and managed to qualify for the European Championships in boom alone, which is an achievement in itself ".

Last week, the Swedish men's squad was also taken out, and contains the following five names:

David Rumbutis, Kim Wanström, Joakim Lenberg, Karl Idesjö and Filip Lidbeck.

Veronica Wagner on men's chances:

"David Rumbutis is the strongest gymnast, he qualified for the Olympics as the first male gymnast since Johan Jonasson did it in 1988!

David is a very strong all-rounder ”

The European Championships will be decided on April 21-25 in Basel, Switzerland, and will be broadcast live on SVT.
