In January, it was the first time in NBA history that two women, Natalie Sago and Jenna Schroeder, refereed the same match.

And so far this season, seven female referees have judged at least one match.

"It's a great thing, and a great day," Sago told the NBA.

On social media, Schroeder and Sago were hailed by, among others, football star Megan Rapinoe and tennis legend Billie Jean King.

"It's great that we work for a company that supports us"

Sago believes that the job of judge is not about gender, or ethnicity.

She also emphasizes that it is great for women and girls who see the judges on the big stage, with some of the world's best athletes.

- It is powerful that we work for a company that supports us.

It's really cool to work for a company that runs women and that they really believe that we can do the job just as men can, she says.
