The reason for the uncertainty was new qualification rules for the Olympics.

But after the Swedish Figure Skating Association got further into the issue, it is clear that Majorov's 23rd place at the WC, which ended this weekend, meant another Swedish Olympic quota place.

"I am very pleased and happy to announce that we actually took a place in both the men's and women's class," writes sports director Anna Burwall in a text message to TT.

It was already clear that Josefin Taljegård's 15th place gave a quota place.

But to qualify for Beijing, both 25-year-old Taljegård and 20-year-old Majorov need to raise their total points from the World Cup, 178.10 and 192.79 respectively.

For the Olympic-chasing figure skaters, the points for the eighth-placed skiers at the WC apply as a kind of qualifying limit.

In Stockholm, the female rat Olga Mikutina, Austria, had 198.77 and the male rat Yevgeny Semenenko, the team of the Russian Figure Skating Federation, had 258.45.

The Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) can also select Swedish Olympians for reasons other than results.

The so-called future criterion may be another possibility for an Olympic ticket next year, especially in the case of younger Majorov.
