The first day of the competition was attended by the President of the Asian Paralympic Committee, Director of the Fazza Championships for People of Determination, Majid Al-Osaimi, Secretary-General of the UAE Paralympic Committee Dhiban Al-Muhairi, and a number of heads of delegations participating in the tournament.

He said in a press statement: “The badminton championship is exceptional after the organizing committee decided in coordination with the Dubai Sports Council and the International Federation to change the name of the tournament to bear a name dear to the hearts of everyone, the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, out of gratitude and appreciation for what he offered to people of determination.”

For his part, the head of the event's technical committee, Ahmed Al-Hammadi, described the start of the tournament as good despite the forced suspension due to the Corona pandemic, which lasted for 14 months, indicating that the players who participated in the Dubai version expressed their happiness at the return of the international sporting activity of badminton from Dubai.
