This season's league game is over for ping-pong star Mattias Falck, eight in the world rankings.

Falck's Werder Bremen missed the playoffs, despite having the league's third best match ratio - 25-9.

He is now at home in Halmstad, and since the international competitions are fewer - due to the pandemic - Falck gets more time for training.

- It's really good, I do not get the chance to do that in normal cases.

Now I can drive properly, says Mattias Falck.

The 29-year-old, who won sensational World Cup silver in 2019, has been selected for the Olympics in Tokyo.

But the competition plan to find form for the Olympic Games, which starts in just under four months, is unclear to him.

"Disadvantage of quarantine"

- It is, as always, messy with the ping-pong.

There will be two competitions in China for the 32 best players in the world, but they have been postponed until the end of May.

It changes all the time with quarantine, right now it's two weeks.

We have not taken a final decision as to whether I will play the competitions or not.

What do you do otherwise?

- Then there will be a lot of training here at home and play in the Pro Series (invitation competition in Sweden) so I get some matches.

And what do you prefer to do?

- Difficult to know exactly.

The advantage in China is that I get to meet the best, but the disadvantages are quarantine and travel.

Regardless of the charging option for Falck in May, he will play individual European Championships in Poland - one month before the Olympics.

The Swedish squad has not yet been selected.

But in the world rankings, Falck is the best ranked European, Kristian Karlsson eleventh, Jon Persson 18th and Anton Källberg 25th.

- It is an incredible breadth and it feels like we have good chances there.

The European Ping-Pong Championships will be decided between June 22 and 27, and the Tokyo Olympics will begin on July 23 and end on August 8.
