At the 49th year of life, the Dutch para-snowboarder Bibian Mentel has died. For two decades, she had to fight with cancer, because of which she lost her leg and was unable to compete at the 2002 Olympic Games. However, this did not prevent her from continuing her sports career. After winning the national championship among healthy athletes, Mentel began to seek the inclusion of snowboard in the Paralympics program - and she succeeded. In 2014, she became the first champion in the history of para-snowboarding disciplines. At the next Games, she won two more gold medals.
