A conflict has flared up between the Swedish Ice Hockey Association and international.

The burning question: Tackles in women's hockey.

- I understand those who think it would change ice hockey fundamentally, but I like physical play and would like it.

If you ask the players in our team, everyone would say that we want tackles, says Luleå's Johanna Fällman.

With the referee base Joel Hansson, the Swedish federation has pushed the line to introduce tackles on the women's side.

Next season was the goal picture according to information to SVT Sport.

But today it was a setback.

One who stands on the IIHF's side is Brynäs star Lara Stalder.

- I think it's a bad idea.

It would destroy the sport, where the focus would disappear from the technical, she says.

According to information to SVT Sport, the Swedish Ice Hockey Association, despite the setback, does not intend to drop this line.

The union has researched the issue and says it has strong support for the change.

A change that would be implemented from the age of 13 just like on the boys' side.

The proposal is to allow tackles with one exception: So-called frontal collisions or open ice tackles.
