The death of the former Jordanian player and coach Al-Faisali, Ratib Al-Awadat
The international player and former Al-Faisali football coach, Ratib Al-Awadat, has died at the age of 50 after a long struggle with illness, according to what the Jordanian club announced in a statement today, Friday.
Al-Faisali said in a statement on his official Facebook page: “It is with great sadness and sorrow that the board of directors of the Al-Faisali club, the technical and administrative staff, the players and the fans, mourns the death of our former player and national coach Ratib Al-Awadat after a struggle with illness,” four days after his return from a foreign treatment trip.
Al-Awadat is considered one of the most prominent stars of Jordanian football in its golden age, as he contributed to the arrival and participation of the "Nashama" team for the first time in the Asian Cup finals in China in 2004 under the leadership of the late Egyptian coach Mahmoud Al-Gohary.
Al-Awadat also contributed to the Jordan national team being crowned the gold medal in the Arab sports tournament twice in 1997 in Lebanon and 1999 in Jordan under the leadership of the late national coach Muhammad Awad, and among his most prominent achievements as a player with Al-Faisaly is the two-time AFC Cup title in 2004 and 2005, and the Arab Champions League runner-up title in 2007, And achieved with Al-Faisaly dozens of local titles.
The late man previously coached Al-Faisali, An-Ras and Al-Baqa 'clubs, and led Al-Faisaly the season before last to crown his last title in the Professional League Championship, and he also led him in the first stage of the league championship for the last season before giving up his mission to complete the stages of his cancer treatment.
