Håkan Sjöstrand sees several reasons why the World Cup should not have been awarded to Qatar.

- The decision to host the World Cup in Qatar is frankly stupid.

Partly sporting as it has to be moved from summer to winter.

And then mainly for the obvious shortcomings that exist regarding human rights.

Then it appears as clear as stupid, he says.

The Norwegian and German men's national teams have protested before their World Cup qualifiers this week, which Sweden has not done.

Sweden and the Swedish Football Association have received some criticism for not doing enough on the issue.

Sjöstrand does not agree with that criticism.

- We have pursued this issue since 2016 and for an active dialogue with several nations on how we can take an even larger and united approach to this issue.

Last week I had a dialogue with several of my colleagues about how we can work together.

On the other hand, it becomes unfortunate when different initiatives are set against each other when everyone is working for the same thing.

That one would be better than the other.

The more initiatives the better and if they go together, it will be even stronger, he says.
