After a large-scale renovation work that cost about 18 billion yen at MetLife Dome, the home of professional baseball Seibu, it was fully opened in time for the season opener on the 26th.

Countermeasures against infection with the new coronavirus have been taken, such as the introduction of a new system at the stadium that shows the congestion status of toilets.

On the 26th, Seibu will fight Orix at the opening game of the season at MetLife Dome, which is based in Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture.

The maximum number of spectators was limited to 10,000, but many fans lined up at intervals even before the opening. Then, when the entrance gate opened at 3:45 pm, fans lined up to measure body temperature and disinfect with alcohol entered the stadium one after another.

MetLife Dome was fully opened on the 26th after a large-scale renovation work with a total project cost of 18 billion yen was completed in line with the opening round for about three years. The outfield grass seats, which have been popular for many years, are now equipped with seats, and the large-scale vision behind the center has nearly doubled in size to make the images clearer.

In addition, a plaza for children was created around the stadium, where children could slide on the roller slider and enjoy themselves at the jungle gym.

A father in his 40s, who came from Tsurugashima City, Saitama Prefecture, said, "I'm looking forward to watching baseball while there is less entertainment in Corona. I can't make a loud voice with the children at the reborn dome, but to the players I want to cheer and have fun. "

From this season, Seibu will use a dedicated app as an infection countermeasure to install equipment to measure the concentration of carbon dioxide in the room at about 200 toilets in the stadium and restaurants and goods departments. We have introduced a new system that shows the ventilation status.

Ryosuke Iwane of the Saitama Seibu Lions Division says, "We will start today, but we will take every day carefully and take appropriate measures to create a safe and secure environment."
