At Epe, one of the fencing events, Yu Yamada, a boy, and Nozomi Sato, a girl, have confirmed that they will be represented in Japan at the Tokyo Olympics.

On the 23rd, fencing Epe finished the last international tournament in Russia to qualify for the Tokyo Olympics.

In Japan, boys ranked 5th and girls ranked 13th in team competitions, and both men and women missed the right to participate in the Tokyo Olympics on their own.

On the other hand, although the boy Yamada lost in the first round in the individual competition, he finished 4th in the individual ranking for the Olympic participation, which was updated by the League of Nations after the tournament.

In addition, female Sato lost in the qualifying, but finished 42nd in the ranking.

As a result, except for the athletes from the countries and regions where the group got the right to participate in the Olympics, the two were in the top two in the Asia / Oceania region in the individual ranking, so they met the right to participate in the Tokyo Olympics and became the representative of Japan. I made sure.

On the other hand, Japan has a host country frame, and you can select additional representative players at Epe and participate in both team and individual competitions.

The Foil International Tournament is scheduled to be held from the 26th of this month, and the Federation of Japan Fencing will select representative players including the host country frame based on the results and officially announce the players of the Japanese national team.
