Once upon a time in the history of sport

.

This time,

20 Minutes

has chosen to return to the Jean Prat phenomenon, and the rugby match between the XV of France and Wales in 1955.

66 years ago, the France-Wales match brought the V Nations Tournament to a close.

An opponent that the France team will face this Saturday evening, and which can allow the Welsh to achieve the Grand Slam in the VI Nations Tournament.

A failed first Grand Slam

In 1955, for the first time in the history of the XV of France, its captain Jean Prat (1923-2005) was carried in triumph by… his opponents.

The third row of Lourdes is the man of first times and records on the field, praised for his qualities "fair play" away.

Our guest, Joris Vincent, is a rugby historian.

He looks back on the exceptional career of Jean Prat, a handyman, able to register tries, hit penalties and drops, and run to the four corners of the field.

This rugby phenomenon gave its name to a trophy: the Jean-Prat trophy, which today is equivalent to the title of amateur French champion.
