Alexis Pinturault finished at the top of the general classification of the World Cup, Saturday morning the big crystal globe.

He thus entered the history of French alpine skiing by winning the most prestigious trophy in his sport.

A Frenchman had not achieved such a performance since Luc Alphand, in 1997.

The skier won the overall standings of the Alpine Skiing World Cup on Saturday at the finals in Lenzerheide, Switzerland.

The Frenchman set by far the best time on the first track, pushing back Austrian Stefan Brennsteiner to 81/100 and Croatian Filip Zubcic to 1'04.

He then negotiated the second round well to definitively distance his Swiss rival, Marco Odermatt.
